Valentine's Day Scams
Posted: February 3, 2024, 7:35PMLove is in the air! It's that time of year when we buy and receive cards, candy, and flowers. For some people, it may be especially lonely and they may look for their special someone online. Artificial intelligence has made it very easy for scammers to fool innocent and vulnerable people on social media.
Hopefully, you've read my posts about Artificial Intelligence. The perfect person can be created. Images and videos can be changed. You can't believe what you see!
If you want to connect with someone you've met on social media, insist on a face-to-face (Facetime or other) or preferably in person. (In a safe place.) Ask questions. Don't fall for the displaced person - maybe in the military - in a foreign country who is having trouble with their passport and needs to pay for their daughter's surgery.
Don't send money! There are people out there who want your money and your personal information. Scamming is big business and a profitable business.
Be cautious!
