SEVERE WEATHER ALERT!!!!
Posted: June 17, 2024, 8:26AMThe temps are supposed to be hitting record highs this week going into the upper 90s. Please be especially mindful of your older family members, friends, neighbors, and your fur-babies!!
Make sure there is plenty of water available. If your loved one has dementia, you may need to cue them or hand the glass of water to them and encourage them to drink. Carry a bottle of water with you.
Stay out of the mid-day sun. As hot as it is predicted to be, stay where it is cool or go to a cooling station. For a list of cooling shelters in the area, go to www.wtrf.com
Watch your car! Do NOT leave children or animals in the car. Even with the windows open, temps can rise to fatal levels. Put something in the back so you have to open the doors to get the object. (Purse, briefcase, laptop, etc)
Bring your animals inside. Dog boxes are like ovens. They do not offer a cool spot. They hold in heat. Tree shade may not be enough with temps in the high 90s. Bring them in!!!
This is the hottest weather we have had for a LONG time. Be cautious. Be prepared. Take precautions to protect your people and your pets!
