Scams Everywhere

Beware!  The Clerk of Courts in Belmont County OH reports that a telephone scam is making its way around Belmont County with scammers posing as representatives of the court.  People are being told that they are being fined $1500 for not showing up for jury duty.  NOT TRUE.

The Clerk goes on to say that this is not the way this is handled saying that the person would receive a letter or phone call but they would not be subjected to a fine.

If you have a question about missing jury duty, call the Clerk of Courts.

If you've gotten one of these calls or if you have fallen victim to the scam, call the local authorities or call the court at 740 699-2169.
