National Caregivers Month
Posted: November 4, 2019, 5:29PMNovember is National Caregivers Month. Caregiving is a hard job. It is physically taxing, emotionally challenging, and can test our spiritual strength.
Do you know a caregiver? Ask how you can help. We often say "Call me if you need anything" but often people won't reach out. We can reach out instead. Maybe take a meal - drop off a pizza or a casserole. Offer to do grocery shopping, pick up a prescription or help with transportation. Maybe you could sit with the care receiver for a while to give the caregiver a little "me" time. Or just visit at a convenient time. Caregivers have shared with me that they often miss the opportunity for conversation and get really lonely especially if they are caring for a loved one with dementia.
Reach out to one of your caregiver friends today. Tell them how much you appreciate them. It can make all the difference. Offer an ear and a shoulder. You don't know how much that means. I know.
