Have you thought about your digital legacy?
Posted: June 23, 2016, 10:29AMHave you given much thought to your digital connections....or those of your care receiver? How many password-protected sites on different computers and your smart phone do you or your care receiver utilize? Do you or your loved one do on-ine banking? Do you KNOW what digital accounts your loved one has? Do you know passwords? Could family find passwords if something happens? It's mind-boggling!
We need to consider the privacy aspect. How much do you or your care receiver WANT revealed on social media? Do you want family members to find out about a death on social media? What about digital assets? We are looking at sentimental values as well as possible monetary value.
Stop and think for a moment of all the possibilities: Facebook, Twitter, banking, PayPal, CaringBridge, LinkedIn, Pinterest, insurance sites, medical sites, personal web pages, ITunes, IPhone, IPad, Shutterfly....the list goes on. And they all require passwords.
When we are developing our advance directives, we need to consider our digital legacy! And make sure the information is protected!
